Key West is a city known for being very active during the day – and even busier during the night hours … But did you know that some people believe Key West is * really * living in this time bit in the middle of the night …? The inhabitants of this city are quite familiar with stories of haunted houses, hotels, restaurants and even local churches, which prompted more than a thrill seeker coming to our little island paradise more interested in discovering of death – making friends with the living.
A surprising place haunted the Hard Rock Cafe, which was once the Curry House – a house built by the first millionaire Key West for his son. The son committed suicide at home after losing the family fortune. It says it is still seen throughout the building redesigned to disappear in front of astonished spectators.
Another popular tourist site for more reasons than simple observations Ghost is the Hemingway home. The house is open to the public and has been maintained in original condition since Hemingway's death in 1961. Visitors often claimed that the sound of a typewriter has been heard during the tours of his home. It is also rumored that Hemingway actually been seen repeatedly throughout the property, even waving from the windows when the house is unoccupied.
Key West is also home a real life "Chucky" doll. The doll was given to the artist Robert Otto in 1904 by an official who practiced voodoo. Appointed Robert the doll, after all the events and accused of bad dolls. For most people the Robert doll off a mood very bad, but not Otto, in fact, he liked the doll so much that it became a conflict between him and his wife insisted that the doll be stored in the attic. Instead of the doll has her own bedroom where strange phenomena have occurred. Children in the region has become frightened to walk home in the past because they were convinced of the doll shows and actually make fun of them on the street. A plumber at home once sworn he heard laughter from dolls and noticed that every time he passed the room of the doll would be in different areas.
Robert the doll possessed, is now on display at the Museum Marello East, where it continues to spook those who visit. The doll is housed in a display case and yet lion toy, the doll moves mysteriously from one knee to another. Knocks one can hear from behind the glass where it sits. It also says that the cameras stop working until near Robert – some believing the doll itself prevents images taken.
For those who want to visit several haunted sites and hear ghost stories that made them famous – there are Ghost Tours offered in Key West. These visits can be fascinating for believers and skeptics for entertaining – which may actually change their mentality. Some tours even offer prove their results through ghost images and even voice recordings from beyond the grave. These visits often last more than an hour giving more detailed information on this very historic (and haunted) city.
