We all received our car from rock chips, Door Dings, scratches bumper etca … They may come from a stone thrown against a truck on the highway, or as simple as a parking lot ding from someone in a hurry or even an errant grocery cart. Most of they are inevitable. They can occur even if you park away from stores and independent measures you take to protect your car. Not only do they affect the beauty of your car, but they can also make your car more susceptible to rust and the environment. Liena's How to solve these paint chips, nicks and deep scratches and protect your vehicle from rust.
It's not worth going an automotive paint and storage equipment for chips and scratches. They will be charged 10 times more for repairs you can easily do yourself. The first step is to locate the chips and scratches and see how deep they are. If they donÂ't go throughout the painting you can buff out. Using a towel, apply a small amount of scratch remover or cleaner wax. Rub in a circular motion over chip and rub or scratch when dry. If this removes the chip or scratch after a few applications, great, then just follow with a good wax or polish. If you see white primer or metal in the nick or Scratch Scratch Remover or cleaner wax will not work well.
Some cars have paint is lacquer-based paint and others that is enamel based. The following advice works wonders on cars with lacquer paint basis only. Get a clean cloth and apply a small amount of lacquer thinner to it. Take this and rub lightly on and around zero, Nick or chip. The lacquer thinner will actually start to move around the paint and cover the affected areas. This works well on large scratches. This treatment is not recommended on cars with custom paint jobs and may not work on all cars with paints based lacquer.
For those with enamel paint or scratches and chips where the processing job didnÂ't above, then you have to touch the spot in your painting. First, you need to get the paint code so you can correctly match the paint of your car. It is located inside your jam door or on some Honda inside the glove box. Take this paint code to your dealer and get a small bottle of touch up paint. The touch of paint will be sold in a small bottle with an applicator brush. Instead of using the brush as it will apply too broadly and make your alterations of the chip or scratch really stand out, we recommend using a toothpick for better paint placement.
First clean the surface the chip or scratch. Then follow the instructions on the bottle of touch up paint. Usually, it is thoroughly mixed for 5 minutes (metallic paints May require more agitation). Then, instead of using the toothpick painting directly on the chip or scratch. When done allow to dry for several days before waxing or polishing (some cars have a very strong symbol that you would apply equally to the affected area). By touching the paint you have sealed the area of environment and greatly reduces the chances of rust setting in and affect your plate. Rust is like cancer for your car and very difficult to stop once it starts, it is better to be proactive and prevent with car care and adequate treatment and quickly identify and repair paint chips, nicks and scratches.
