You've bought your ferret, it was the vet, had "once again" and the necessary vaccinations and is old enough to be brought home, but have you 'Ferret-proof "your house or at least the areas where your young ferret live?
A young ferret, or a kit as they are called (regardless of sex) is really fun, but they are also a lot of hard work and there are few checks basic and elementary that you should do before it becomes your house-mate.

Dog toys are not all good, not unless they are made of solid materials that can not be chewed or shredded. Remember: "If you have soft bedding or stuffed animals, you must ensure that your new pet can not chew off big pieces that can swallow ferrets are prone to intestinal blockages, which can kill or require an expensive operation.
Ensure that their cage is big enough for them to run inside and turn into … you do not want to change every two years and you must also ensure there are many places for them to sleep, you can buy for a few hammocks and sleeping bags as they will be sleeping for up to 18 hours per day, or maybe longer!.
