Inviting or not to invite children to your wedding ceremony and / or reception is a decision that is really up to the married. This Article is for couples who choose to have children at the reception.
Children are unpredictable, which is one of their greatest charms, but also one of the dangers of the invite. It's lovely to include all the special people from your life in your marriage, even if they are some of those smaller than you know. This will be a great way to let them know how special you are and give them a sense of what a big, fancy, adult, as a special event. She may end up being too much for them to handle, however, as they consider may need a time out at parties too.
Some ideas for keeping children occupied during your reception:
Have a Room separate (or at least a separate area) for children to arrange a baby sitter to keep an eye on the kiddos. You do not want them disrupt the more formal moments, but more importantly, you will not find a way to hurt themselves or others (playing with a knife steak or tripping a waitress carrying a heavy tray would put a damper on things.) Children do not have to be sequestered in this sector throughout the night, just make sure each child has some form of adult supervision at all times.
Have activities for children-Look for a wedding on theme coloring and activity book, or use any general activity book. Provide pencils, paper, perhaps paper placemats for children. This will help keep them entertained during the meal times, especially during the toasts that might not be able to capture their interest.
Have a tea party if you are able to have a separate bedroom for children and a sitter or two, have a theme tea party for them. They are already all dressed, and with juice and cookies, this may be more relaxed, but special events, they can participate in. You can also have the theme as the Mad Hatter and March Hare tea with Alice in Wonderland to make it extra fun.
Hire a magician-If you can afford it, hire a magician to come to some simple tricks or make balloon animals for children for an hour or two.
Special visit for the bride-Make sure when you tour the newlyweds take a minute or two to go in the room for children. This will not only show these young guys that they valued guests and also give you a break from the formality of the event, nice little break, and perhaps a chance to sneak a kiss in the hallway.
Hold storybooks in hand-Make sure there are books or guardian parent can read quietly in a group of children.
GOODY BAGS for Children – Give the children a bag when they arrive which treats and small business to keep them happy. Stay away from anything noisy or potentially destructive you do not want a yo-yo to destroy your wedding cake!
Teddy Bear Toss-If you make a bouquet and garter toss for adults, and you will have many children, you may want to consider doing something for them. Toss a teddy bear soft white or another plush (A Webkinz is very popular) for children to catch. They'll have fun and be terribly cute to watch.

Not all parents are comfortable leaving their children at a baby-sitter they do not know. Not everyone might think kids are as cute as you (or their parents) think they are. Including children or not is an important decision that raises many emotion for many people. Making the right decision for you and stick to it, because you will not be able to please everyone.
